Confused and Excited

What are you still confused about regarding the library space and/or library services? What, if anything, are you still confused about regarding the course? What are you most excited to do or learn this semester?

The library provides many services that I utilize. I suppose if I am confused about anything regarding the library space and/or library services it is how to use databases to the fullest extent. I know how to use them, I just do not know how to reference them or follow a citation to that reference. I hate the idea of "taking their word for it" when I can see proof. Sometimes people reference an idea or theory that is completely separate from their topic but share a small common detail that was not the overall theme to the paper.

What I am confused about this course is if it will teach me to see a book on the topic of my choice and know if it will be worth the read or not. How am I supposed to know if this book is useless in my research? I am a slow reader so this information would be nice.

I am most excited to better prepare myself for my senior year. It will be wonderful to know how to access all my resources and use them to create a wonderful senior project. Getting into my field of study (psychology) is exciting. It is my passion. I truly hope this class does help me achieve greatness during my senior year.

  1. Hi Kayla!

We'll cover how to find books in a few weeks. Sometimes you won't know if the book is what you want unless you dig into it, but we will discuss some tricks to getting more information about a book just by checking out the library catalog!

    Best,
    Jessica
